This incursion comes one day after a meeting held in Jordan between a Syrian delegation headed by Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shibani and an Israeli delegation with American mediation. The official Syrian news agency SANA reported that the meeting discussed setting up practical mechanisms to stop Israeli attacks, arrests, and targeting in southern Syria. This move follows an Israeli bombing of the Abu al-Duhur military airport in Idlib on August 18. Areas in southern Syria are witnessing almost daily Israeli incursions and attacks, especially in the governorates of Quneitra and Daraa, including raids, searches, arrests, and the establishment of military checkpoints. Israel has occupied most of the Golan area since 1967, and after the fall of the Assad regime in late 2024, it announced the collapse of the disengagement agreement and occupied the buffer zone.
