Following repeated complaints from residents and appeals by Karnei Shomron Regional Council head Yonatan Kuznitz to security officials, a targeted enforcement operation was carried out at the Tzufim junction on Highway 55. Border Police Ephraim and the Ephraim District Coordination Office raided the junction and caught nine Palestinians, including adults and minors, who were begging and peddling among vehicles. The phenomenon, occurring near the Eliyahu crossing, was described by the council as a safety and security hazard due to the presence of people among moving cars. Kuznitz welcomed the operation but clarified that this is only a first step, and the real test lies in ongoing routine enforcement. He pledged to closely monitor and demand consistent and continuous enforcement, not just sporadic, to completely eradicate the phenomenon.
