Mayors of frontline communities, organized in a forum led by Moshe Davidovich, head of the Mateh Asher Regional Council, this week approached party leaders ahead of the Knesset elections expected in October. In a letter sent, they requested clear commitments regarding the future of the north and invited candidates to professional working meetings. The forum stressed that the election campaign presents an opportunity to formulate a long-term policy that will ensure the region's future, security, and prosperity. Among the issues raised: formulating a national strategy for the rehabilitation and development of the north, embedding development goals in infrastructure, education, and health in government plans, and creating economic growth engines to strengthen community resilience and demographic growth. Davidovich said, "The north is the strategic asset of the State of Israel, and strengthening it is not just a local interest; it is a top national interest," adding that the responsibility is to ensure residents a structured work plan, economic horizon, and personal security. The forum defined the initiative as state-oriented, aimed at harnessing the entire political system to advance the north.
