Not only in Israel: In Trump's camp they come out against envoy Tom Barak - "Always sides with the bad guys"
The confrontation between Israel and US envoy Tom Barak is expanding: Sources close to Trump, including conservative activist Laura Loomer, attack Barak for his pro-Turkish positions and his statement that Israel "still occupies the Golan" – contradicting Trump's 2019 declaration. Barak presents a different picture from the Israeli position regarding Turkey's intentions in Syria.
The sharp confrontation between Israel and US President Donald Trump's envoy to Syria and ambassador to Turkey, Tom Barak, is expanding beyond Jerusalem. In recent days, harsh criticism of Barak has also been heard from Trump's inner circle, claiming that the envoy adopts positions too close to those of Ankara – sometimes even contradicting the president's own stated policy. The confrontation gained momentum after Barak said in an interview that Israel "still occupies the Golan," contradicting Trump's 2019 declaration recognizing Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights. Conservative activist Laura Loomer, who has a close connection to Trump, called on Barak to resign due to a lack of understanding of American foreign policy, saying "he always sides with the bad guys." Barak, meanwhile, described the Syrian government as not taking an aggressive approach, said Ankara is not interested in a military confrontation with Israel, and defined the Israeli strike on the Syrian base as "unnecessary escalation." Behind the exchanges lies a strategic struggle: Israel fears that Turkish presence in Syria will become a permanent military presence and limit the Air Force's freedom of operation, while Barak presents Turkey's strengthening in a positive light.
