Not Just the IDF and Shin Bet: Security Bodies to Receive New Powers to Deal with Drone Threat

The government has circulated a comprehensive draft law granting new powers to security bodies to deal with the drone threat, including interception and disruption from the air. The powers include interception and disruption from the air. The draft, formulated by the Justice Ministry, applies not only to classic bodies like the IDF, Mossad, Shin Bet, and police, but also to the Security Officer in the Defense Ministry and the Knesset Guard. Additional bodies, such as security companies, have requested similar powers, and this is expected to be considered in the future. The draft law, which is an emergency order for five years, also includes the establishment of a national system managed by the IDF that will coordinate an 'aerial picture' and information on drone flights.
