NIS 217 million underground: The new project in north Tel Aviv

The Israel Electric Corporation has completed the connection of a new underground substation in north Tel Aviv, with an investment of approximately NIS 217 million. The station, built at a depth of 20 meters, is intended to strengthen the electricity supply to the Ramat Aviv area and north Tel Aviv, including Tel Aviv University, and to address the growth in consumption and continued development.

The Israel Electric Corporation has connected a new underground substation to the grid in north Tel Aviv, with an investment of approximately NIS 217 million. The station, built at a depth of about 20 meters below ground, is designed to strengthen the power grid and improve the reliability and quality of supply to residents of Ramat Aviv and north Tel Aviv, businesses and institutions in the area, including Tel Aviv University. The project took about four years and involved complex excavation and lining work in challenging terrain and topography in the heart of an active urban environment. Two power transformers with a capacity of 75 megawatts each, totaling 150 megawatts, were installed in the station. One of the main challenges was bringing the large transformers into the depths of the station, near an active road and in an area with regular traffic, which required precise planning and coordination among many parties. The station is expected to address the growth in electricity consumption and the continued development of the area, against the backdrop of planned development in the Sde Dov complex.
