NIS 1,204 per child: who is eligible for National Insurance Institute payments

The National Insurance Institute (Bituah Leumi) is launching large-scale payments of annual allowances for the start of the school year. The total support will amount to 335 million shekels, about 35 million more than last year. Recipients will include about 197,000 families where a child is raised by a single parent, and about 79,000 large families (four or more children) already receiving social benefits. The fixed benefit is NIS 1,204 per child aged 6 to 18. For most citizens, payments will be transferred automatically to bank accounts. Automatic payment applies to children born between January 1, 2009, and December 31, 2020. If a child does not fall within this range, parents can submit an official certificate from the educational institution. Acting Director General Tzvi Cohen noted that the initiative aims to reduce financial pressure on families before the start of the school year.
