New Survey: Czechia, Iceland, and Spain Top Europe's Hot Destinations for 2026

Czechia leads in booking growth (18%), Iceland is second (11%), and Spain remains the most sought-after destination. The report indicates a 2.3% increase in air traffic and a 2% rise in hotel occupancy between May 2025 and April 2026.

A new survey by Amadeus Travel Intelligence in collaboration with the World Tourism Organization reveals Europe's hottest tourism destinations for 2026. According to the report, Czechia ranked first as the destination with the highest booking growth rate among key European markets, with an annual increase of 18%, ahead of Iceland at 11%. Spain continues to dominate as the most searched-for destination online and also ranks first in bookings in Europe. Between May 2025 and April 2026, there was a 2.3% increase in air traffic and a 2% rise in hotel occupancy compared to the same period. Europe remains the world's largest tourism region, with over 130 million international tourists in the first quarter of 2026—a 4% increase. Southern Europe and the Mediterranean, along with Northern Europe, saw a 4% rise in visitors, while Central and Eastern Europe showed significant recovery with a 6% growth. The report indicates growing demand for city breaks and nature tourism, with a shift away from 'traditional tourism powerhouses.' Additionally, people aged 46 to 65 account for about 30% of tourism demand in Europe, making them the largest age group among travelers.
