New Reserve Quota to Be Approved by End of September

The government approved extending Order 8 until the end of September 2026, while reducing the maximum recruitment quota from 280,000 to 240,000 reserve soldiers, as part of the IDF's updated security preparations.

The government approved extending Order 8 for reserve mobilization until September 30, 2026, while reducing the maximum quota from 280,000 to 240,000 soldiers. The decision was made amid ongoing operational activity on multiple fronts and changing security needs. The new order replaces the previous order from May 2026. Additionally, steps were taken such as raising the exemption age for essential professions to 49, mobilizing tens of thousands of reservists to combat units, and approving the law extending mandatory service to 32 months. The average daily cost of reserve duty is estimated at about 1,000 shekels, and the costs for the first quarter of 2026 were estimated at about 6 billion shekels.
