The luxury superyacht Angiola II, worth 9.1 million dollars, sank in the Mediterranean Sea off the coast of Sardinia. The incident occurred on the evening of August 11 near the popular resort of Porto Cervo. The vessel sank just four days after its official handover to a new owner. Fourteen people were on board, including passengers and crew members. According to preliminary data, a fire started in the engine room; the crew managed to contain the blaze, but the hull took on a critical amount of water and sank. Another version suggests a collision with an underwater shoal. The coast guard rescue operation lasted about three hours, with the owner and his close friend leaving the yacht last. The wreck rests at a depth of seven meters, with protective booms installed around it to prevent fuel leakage. An anonymous businessman has hired a company to raise the vessel, planning to use a pontoon boat with a lifting capacity of about two hundred tons. The Amer F100 model was built by the Permare shipyard in 2020, and the sale was closed on August 4 through the agency Agenzia Marittima De Felice. The vessel can reach speeds of up to twenty-eight knots, with five cabins accommodating up to ten guests and five crew members.
