Israel's Ministry of Agriculture has completed the approval process with Cambodian authorities, opening a new direction for citrus exports. As reported on August 20, shipments of oranges, lemons, grapefruits and pomelos will begin in the coming weeks. The Citrus Growers' Association estimates the potential at about 10,000 tons per year. Ministry of Agriculture Director General Oren Lavie noted that the agreement with Cambodia is part of a broader policy to expand agricultural exports to the Far East. As part of this strategy, the ministry, together with the Export Institute, promoted the participation of Israeli exporters in the Asia Fruit Logistica exhibition. Parallel advanced negotiations are underway with Japan for the supply of watermelons, melons, zucchini and pumpkins.
