The changes included the appointment of Roberto Mancini as technical director of the Italian national team, returning to lead the 'Azzurri' for the second time after his first stint between 2018 and 2023, during which he led the team to win the UEFA Euro 2020 title. The federation also announced the appointment of Claudio Ranieri as the technical director of the Italian Football Federation, succeeding Paolo Maldini, to oversee the technical project and develop national teams and youth categories. These decisions come as part of a plan to rebuild Italian football after a series of failures, most notably missing out on the World Cup for three consecutive editions, with the federation relying on the experience of Mancini and Ranieri to return the national team to competition on the international stage.
