Netanyahu reveals: 'Yair hid under a table in kindergarten for a week'

He recounted that when Yair was in kindergarten, a parody was made of him on the program 'HaHartzufim', which is forbidden by law, and he hid under a table for a week. Netanyahu criticized the Council for Children's Rights, which he claims said then that 'Yair is not worthy of protection', and argued that the harm stems from the desire to topple his government.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu appeared yesterday (Monday) on the 'Shomer Saf' podcast of Dr. Gadi Taub, and shared the heavy price his family members, especially his sons Yair and Avner, pay for being sons of a prime minister. Netanyahu said the suffering began at a young age: "When Yair was in kindergarten, they made a parody of him... something forbidden by law. And he hid under a table for a week there in kindergarten. He was clearly hurt by it." He referred to the program 'HaHartzufim' that aired on Channel 2 in the 1990s, and claimed it crossed lines when it reached Yair. Netanyahu criticized the authorities' attitude: "There is a Council for Children's Rights. The one who headed it... he said: 'Netanyahu's son is not worthy of protection'." According to him, the harm to his sons stemmed from the desire to bring about the fall of his government: "To bring him down, you have to harm everything possible. For example, they harmed a tender five-year-old child and wounded his soul." When asked what he tells his children, he replied: "I hug him, try to comfort him. But the truth is they are making a huge sacrifice." He added: "We encountered terrible degrees of evil."
