Negev resident accused: sold stolen cars - then stole them again

After the sale, he allegedly stole the cars back and transferred them to the Palestinian Authority territories. In one charge, he sold a Toyota Corolla for 78,500 shekels, and in a second charge, he attempted the same fraud with a Jeep Wrangler, but the plan was foiled.
The State Prosecutor's Office today (Wednesday) filed an indictment with the Be'er Sheva District Court against Tarek Al-Abid (31) from Kseifa, for a series of fraud and car theft offenses. According to the indictment, filed by attorney Giora Hazan from the Southern District Prosecutor's Office, Al-Abid used to obtain stolen cars, locate identical cars offered for sale, perform a false ownership transfer using forged documents and impersonation, and match the stolen car's details to those of the legal car. He then sold the car to third parties, and after completing the deal, ensured the sold car was stolen and transferred to the Palestinian Authority territories, to gain additional profit and prevent discovery of the fraud. In the first charge, Al-Abid sold a Toyota Corolla to two brothers from Lod for 78,500 shekels in cash, and then sent another person to steal the car using a GPS tracking device installed in it beforehand. The car was found at the Meitar checkpoint. In the second charge, he used the same method with a Jeep Wrangler, but the plan was not completed after the legal car's owner discovered the ownership transfer and filed a complaint with the police.
