The Negev Mental Health Clinic in Ofakim, run by the Association of Public Health, marked 20 years of therapeutic activity yesterday. Located on the second floor of the "Red House" on Ofakim's main street, the clinic offers a multidisciplinary framework including psychiatric, psychological, and psychosocial care. Following the October 7 events and months of fighting, the clinic's staff worked to provide immediate responses to the community: reception hours were extended, additional staffing positions were added, and ties with the Ministry of Health's mental health division and health maintenance organizations were strengthened. A contribution from the Leon family enabled the clinic to continue operating, as it had faced the threat of closure before the events. At the event, Adv. Yasmin Nachum, CEO of the association, and the President's wife, Michal Herzog, spoke; Herzog praised the clinic's staff and described it as a "lighthouse."
