The National Gathering of Palestinian Tribes, Clans, and Families affirmed the need to confront the phenomenon of using weapons in brawls and family disputes, warning of its repercussions on civil peace and the social fabric. This came during a national factional meeting held by the gathering on Tuesday to discuss ways to reduce the use of weapons in internal conflicts and enhance national and community responsibility in protecting citizens' security. Attendees stressed the complete removal of national and tribal cover from anyone using weapons in brawls and family disputes, rejecting any attempts to protect or conceal them, and called on competent security agencies to pursue those involved, confiscate weapons used in brawls, and take legal action against them. The gathering also called on factions and national forces to remove organizational cover from any of their members proven to be involved in using weapons during family disputes, and to completely separate national and organizational work from these practices. It demanded that mukhtars, dignitaries, notables, and heads of families not intervene to protect those involved, and to lift tribal cover from anyone proven to have used weapons in brawls, alongside calling on scholars and religious figures to intensify awareness of the sanctity of blood and the danger of internal violence. The gathering also urged media outlets and journalists to promote a discourse of civil peace, reject violence and chaos, and raise awareness of the dangers of weapon proliferation and use in community conflicts. The gathering announced, in coordination with national and community forces, working on launching a community honor charter soon, which will include criminalizing the carrying and use of weapons in family brawls, imposing what it described as 'community and tribal exposure' on those involved, and removing any national, organizational, or tribal cover from them. In conclusion, the gathering affirmed that protecting civil peace is a shared national and community responsibility, stressing that confronting the phenomenon of weapon use in brawls requires a unified and firm stance from security agencies, factions, clans, scholars, and media.
