Yair Golan, chairman of the Democrats party, presented today (Monday) at a press conference in Nazareth a national emergency plan to fight organized crime in Arab society, which he called "root treatment." As part of the plan, Golan pledged that within the first week of establishing a government under his leadership or with his participation, a national state of emergency would be declared and a dedicated task force would be established to unify all enforcement bodies. The plan includes shortening legal proceedings from arrest to imprisonment within nine months, establishing dedicated courts for serious crime, and waging an economic war to dry up the funding sources of criminal organizations and removing companies associated with them from public tenders. Additionally, he announced the establishment of "Team 49" - an inter-ministerial body for identifying and rescuing at-risk youth, named after the 49 children and minors murdered in recent years. Golan addressed the residents of Arab society and bereaved families and asked for forgiveness, and sharply attacked Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir, saying that the surge in crime is a continuous failure of the government. MK Naama Lazimi presented a vision for integrating Arab society, criticized the government, and claimed that since its establishment, about 700 citizens have been murdered. MK Gilad Kariv accused Netanyahu's governments of long-term abandonment. At the press conference, parents whose children were murdered also spoke, including Dr. Ashraf Sapia, father of Nabil, 15, who was shot to death in the village of Yassif.
