Musician Mati Guryon, son of Israel Guryon, passes away at 49

Musician Mati Guryon, son of veteran Israeli singer and actor Israel Guryon, has died at the age of 49 after a battle with a serious illness. His mother, Miki Guryon, announced the news on Facebook. Mati was a guitarist and drummer who played on his father's album and worked for years at the music store 'HaOzen HaShlishit'.

His mother, Miki Guryon, published a mourning notice this evening (Friday) on her Facebook page: 'Our dear son Mati Guryon passed away this evening. Rest in peace my beloved, my heart weeps.' Mati was a guitarist and drummer, and among other things played acoustic guitar on the songs 'Shayarat HaRokhvim' and 'HaOlam BeShachor VeLavan' on the album 'Sharim HaDudaim' by Israel Guryon and Assaf Amdursky. His father hosted him at his performances. The music store 'HaOzen HaShlishit', where Mati worked for years, eulogized him in its own post, calling him 'a man of the ear for many years, guitarist, drummer, devoted music and film lover, a connoisseur by grace, cynical, funny and beloved.' In 2024, Miki revealed that her husband Israel Guryon had developed dementia and has not performed since.
