Police located the body of Eldar Dayan, who had been missing since July 25, after obtaining intelligence that he was murdered and his body was hidden near the gas station in Petah Tikva where the car he was traveling in was abandoned. Following the information and the understanding that this was a murder case, the investigation was transferred last Wednesday from the Petah Tikva station to the Central Unit of the Sharon District. On Thursday at dawn, forces conducted targeted searches in the open area near the station, during which the body was found. Investigators knew it was Dayan even before definitive identification was received from the Abu Kabir Forensic Institute. The information was likely obtained through investigative tactics involving Dayan's two friends, Omri Peretz and Maxim Barberman, or through security camera footage. According to police suspicion, the two took Dayan to the open area, attacked him, murdered him, hid the body, and returned to Dimona. The motive is still unknown. Peretz and Barberman had remained silent until now, but in recent days they have begun to cooperate with investigators, although they deny the allegations. Their detention was extended by six days, until August 12. The investigation continues at the Sharon District Central Unit.
