Murder of 19-year-old Bnaya in Jerusalem: main suspect arrested

On Tuesday, July 28, police arrested 17-year-old Avior Sasson, the main suspect in the murder of 19-year-old Bnaya Razi, committed on July 11 in Jerusalem's Nahalaot neighborhood. Sasson had been evading police for 17 days and was arrested in the Harel tunnel at the entrance to Jerusalem. Earlier, it became known that a female officer of the Israel Prison Service (IPS) and an inmate, Sasson's brother, were taken into custody on suspicion of assisting the suspect. According to the investigation, there was a romantic relationship between the officer and the inmate, and the inmate used the officer's mobile phone to help his brother escape. The murder has a criminal background: Razi was found with stab wounds in an apartment rented through Airbnb. The investigation is pursuing the theory of a contract killing initiated by two girls. Among those detained are Razi's ex-girlfriend Agam Tzarfati and her friend, as well as Sasson's mother Linor, suspected of mediation. Razi's family welcomed the disclosure of the minor suspect's identity.
