Einav Zangauker, mother of Matan, who was held hostage by Hamas, stated that Yair Golan, chairman of the Democrats party, promised her a spot on the party's list for the upcoming elections but broke his promise. On Monday, August 10, she recounted on social media X that in February, at Golan's request, she met with him and was offered a reserved slot in the upper part of the list, right after the current Knesset members. After deliberation, she agreed, and an agreement was reached. She was asked to keep it secret and reduce her media activity until the official announcement. Golan repeatedly confirmed the commitment but ultimately changed his mind. Zangauker said she fulfilled her part, but the episode is over. She urged not to let the 'government of failure' erase the memory of the massacre and expressed her intention to work on fixing the country's situation outside the Knesset.
