More than 20,000 immigrants a year: This is the leading country – and this is the top city

The Ministry of Aliyah and Integration and the Jewish Agency publish the data for the year 5786, indicating more than 20,000 new immigrants from about 100 countries. On the eve of Rosh Hashanah, the Ministry of Aliyah and Integration and the Jewish Agency publish the data for the year 5786. More than 20,000 new immigrants from about 100 countries chose to make their home in Israel during the past year (between September 23, 2025, and September 3, 2026). The data reflect a significant growth engine: about 35% of immigrants are young people aged 18–35, and about 24% are children and teenagers up to age 17. During the year, 414 immigrant doctors joined the healthcare system. The age range spans from a two-week-old infant from Mexico to two 102-year-old immigrants from Russia and France. At the Global Aliyah Center in Jerusalem, an unprecedented wave of interest was recorded with the opening of over 28,000 immigration files, with an emphasis on Western countries. The surge is attributed to the effects of the war, global political developments, and the rise in anti-Semitic incidents. Tel Aviv tops the list of absorbing cities with 2,762 immigrants, followed by Netanya (2,224), Jerusalem (2,134), Haifa (1,504), Ra'anana (1,042), Bat Yam (957), Ashdod (846), Beit Shemesh (680), Ashkelon (534), and Rishon LeZion (450). About 31% of immigrants chose to settle in the periphery. Minister Ofir Sofer said the trend is expected to continue and strengthen, and Jewish Agency Chairman Doron Almog called the aliyah "a profound expression of unconditional love."
