Mocked and Set a Dog on Brothers: Young Man from Zichron Yaakov Charged with Violent Assault

An unusual indictment was filed against Yair Ovadia, 18, from Zichron Yaakov, for violently assaulting two brothers on HaNadiv Street in Zichron Yaakov. According to the indictment, Ovadia and his minor friend mocked the brothers, called them "homo," attacked them with fists, and the minor set a Belgian shepherd dog on them. An unusual indictment was filed at the Magistrate's Court in Hadera against Yair Ovadia, an 18-year-old from Zichron Yaakov, for violently assaulting two brothers who were passersby. According to the indictment, on the night of Saturday, July 18, around 10:30 PM, the brothers were walking on HaNadiv Street in the center of the moshavah, when Ovadia and his minor friend, who was leading a Belgian shepherd dog, approached them. The two began mocking the brothers, imitating their movements, and calling them "homo." When one of the brothers asked them to stop, Ovadia responded with curses, pushed him, and punched him in the face and ribs. While the dog barked and jumped on him, the two attacked the brother together. When the second brother came to help, Ovadia also punched him in the nose. The minor removed the dog's leash and called out "attack." The brothers sustained injuries and were evacuated to Hillel Yaffe Hospital. Ovadia was arrested that evening and denies the allegations. In his investigation, he claimed he never met the brothers. The prosecution requested detention until the end of proceedings due to high dangerousness, and Judge Nurit Hertzman Avi-Yitzhak extended his detention. Ovadia has no prior convictions, but another indictment for threats and assault is pending against him. He just finished 12th grade and was supposed to enlist in the IDF in August.
