Mobileye unit Moovit shedding 30% of workforce

Moovit, the public transport app company owned by Mobileye, is laying off about 60 of its 200 employees — 30% of its workforce. The layoffs were announced in a message from Moovit's CEO to staff, which reached Globes. The CEO said that after a comprehensive review, the company decided to downsize and restructure. The restructuring will reduce investment in Moovit's MaaS (mobility as a service) activity and divert resources to consumer growth and deeper technological integration with parent company Mobileye in the Robotaxi autonomous taxi project. Employees responsible for B2B and other departments not dealing with Robotaxi will be leaving. The CEO noted that AI adoption in the development cycle had improved productivity and led to adaptation of the enterprise structure. The layoffs come months after reports that Moovit was for sale at a price substantially below the $900 million Mobileye paid in 2020.
