Minister Eli Cohen: 'If Iran tries to renew its nuclear or missile program, we will attack'

Minister Eli Cohen, a cabinet member, said on 103FM that Israel will attack if Iran renews its nuclear or missile program. He assessed that Trump may bring the strike back to the agenda if the Strait of Hormuz is not opened. Cohen stressed that Israel is ready for any scenario, and noted that Iran refrained from attacking Israel. Regarding fuel prices, he said the rise stems from the global increase in oil prices, and Israel is promoting a land pipeline from the Gulf to Europe. He claimed that the gas rigs are protected, and expressed doubt that Hamas will disarm.

He assessed that Donald Trump may bring the strike against Iran back to the agenda if the Strait of Hormuz is not opened. Cohen emphasized that Israel is not committed to an agreement that does not ensure its security, and that it is ready and alert for any scenario. According to him, in the last three weeks Iran attacked most countries in the region and refrained from attacking Israel, because unlike them, Israel does not turn the other cheek. He added that Israel has the intelligence and offensive capabilities to reach anywhere and anyone in Iran. Regarding the rise in fuel prices, Cohen said it is mainly due to the global increase in oil prices, and assessed that recent developments may lead to price drops. Israel is promoting a plan to lay a land pipeline from the Gulf states, through Israel and the Mediterranean, to Europe. On the Iranian threats to harm the Tamar and Leviathan gas rigs, he claimed they are protected by aerial and naval defense systems, and even during periods of inactivity there was no energy shortage. Regarding the Gaza agreement, he expressed doubt that Hamas will disarm through a political process, but said he would give a chance to a political move before military action.
