As French military analyst Etienne Marcuse explained, such skills allow the A400M, under the control of experienced pilots, to carry out missions from almost anywhere in Europe even if stationary military airfields and airbases are completely neutralized or destroyed during a war. Against this backdrop, air forces of other NATO countries faced real incidents. Near Miramar Air Base in San Diego, California, the latest F-35B fighter jet crashed. The pilot managed to eject in time. The U.S. Marine Corps classified the incident as a 'Class A mishap'—the highest category of accidents, with damage exceeding two million dollars.
