‘Measure for Measure’: Threats Against Bnei Brak Police Station Commander Lead to Indictment

Moshe Cohen, 44, from Modi'in Illit, was arrested after posting threatening messages in a WhatsApp group against the commander of the Bnei Brak-Ramat Gan police station, against the backdrop of protests on Highway 4. Yesterday (Sunday), the Tel Aviv District Prosecution filed an indictment against him and requested his detention until the end of proceedings. At the center of the indictment are messages in which he wrote about the commander: 'Besides the one who will kill you early... terrorist Yuval Shavit, may he rot' and 'We need to do measure for measure, what they do will be done to him.' Following the messages, an investigation was opened at the Masovim station, and Cohen was arrested and imprisoned. According to the police, the background to the statements was the protests on Highway 4. Cohen is being tried for the offense of threats, and the prosecution is asking to keep him in custody until the end of the legal proceedings.
