Massive Operation in the Negev: Electricity Thefts Worth 3 Million Shekels Exposed

In a joint operation by the Israel Electric Corporation and the Israel Police, illegal connections to the grid in Rahat and Tarabin worth over 3 million shekels were discovered. About 50 employees accompanied by police, Border Police officers, and a helicopter raided the area and disconnected ten main targets. Following the operation, criminal proceedings and civil lawsuits will be initiated against those involved.

In a joint enforcement operation by the Israel Electric Corporation and the Israel Police, conducted today (Wednesday) in Rahat and Tarabin in the Negev, electricity thefts worth over 3 million shekels were uncovered. About 50 Electric Corporation employees, accompanied by police, Border Police officers, and a police helicopter, raided the area from the morning hours and disconnected over ten main targets. During the operation, serious safety hazards were addressed. In recent months, residents of Rahat have suffered from recurring power outages, partly caused by grid overload due to thefts. The Electric Corporation and the police stated that criminal proceedings and civil lawsuits will be initiated against those involved.
