Mardawi holds the occupation responsible for the life of prisoner Muhammad al-Natsheh
Hamas leader Mahmoud Mardawi warned of a severe threat to the life of prisoner Sheikh Muhammad Jamal al-Natsheh, accusing the occupation of carrying out a "slow assassination" through beatings, torture, and deliberate medical neglect. Mardawi held the occupation fully responsible for al-Natsheh's life and all prisoners, calling on human rights and international institutions to act urgently and allow independent medical committees to visit prisoners.
Hamas leader Mahmoud Mardawi warned on Tuesday of a severe threat to the life of the movement's leader and prisoner Sheikh Muhammad Jamal al-Natsheh, due to what he described as a "slow assassination" and systematic campaign inside Israeli occupation prisons. In a press statement, Mardawi said that prisoner al-Natsheh is subjected to severe beatings, torture, and humiliation, along with deliberate medical neglect, holding the occupation fully responsible for his life and the lives of all prisoners, male and female. He added that what al-Natsheh and all prisoners face in occupation prisons reflects "a stark picture of the ongoing humanitarian crime against them," noting that the occupation's retaliatory practices aim to break the prisoners' will, which "has not and will not be achieved." Mardawi stressed that the Palestinian people and the resistance will not remain silent over the continued physical and psychological torture, denial of treatment, and the policy of starvation against prisoners. He called on human rights and international institutions, foremost the International Committee of the Red Cross and the United Nations, to act urgently and pressure the occupation to stop what he described as the crime of "slow assassination," and to allow independent medical committees to visit prisoners. He also called on the Palestinian people to expand their mobilization in support of prisoners.
