Akunis said Mamdani's claim that Israel is responsible for a genocide in Gaza contradicts his pledge to ensure the security of the Jewish community. He called the genocide claim a "disgusting lie." Akunis also condemned Mamdani for using the word "monsters" to describe AIPAC, comparing it to Nazi terminology. He warned the United States against Sharia law, saying he admires the country and does not want to see it forced upon Americans.
