"Malkieli is a murderer": Calls by extremist Haredim against the Shas MK
Members of the extremist Jerusalem faction shouted "murderer" at MK Michael Malkieli (Shas) as he left a synagogue in Jerusalem after a lesson with Rabbi Yitzhak Yosef. The rabbi's students accompanied the two with singing. Shas condemned the incident, calling the group "an extremist and anarchist fringe."
Members of the extremist Jerusalem faction waited last night (Saturday) near the car of MK Michael Malkieli (Shas) in Jerusalem, and when he left the "Yezadim" synagogue together with Rabbi Yitzhak Yosef, they shouted "murderer" at him. The rabbi's students accompanied the two with the song "Days upon days of the king, add." Footage shows a crowd gathering around the car. The Shas movement condemned the incident: "This is an extremist and anarchist fringe group, causing severe damage to the Haredi public and the world of Torah, and cooperating with left-wing organizations." In the past year, faction members have protested against other Haredi MKs, including Moshe Gafni, Yaakov Asher, and Aryeh Deri, over their opposition to Haredi conscription.
