The memorial itself, designed by architect Zvika Pasternak, centers on a metal depression replicating the original crater, surrounded by 12 concrete slabs engraved with the names and ages of the children in Hebrew, Arabic, and English. The remains of a stone wall that collapsed in the blast were preserved and incorporated into the design after a bereaved father insisted. Thousands attended the funeral procession at the time, and the site has become a place of pilgrimage. The rocket also wounded 34 others.
