Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz ordered an urgent and comprehensive investigation into reports of possible mistreatment by Rambam Hospital staff toward IDF soldiers seriously wounded during combat in Lebanon and undergoing treatment. The investigation should be conducted in cooperation with all relevant bodies, and its results should be presented to the minister as soon as possible. Special attention, as Katz emphasized, must be paid to the nature of treatment of wounded soldiers, the quality of medical care provided, and the attitude toward their families. The minister separately noted the need to determine whether serious violations occurred and, if confirmed, to take measures against those responsible, as well as to draw conclusions to prevent recurrence. Katz stated that he takes the emerging testimonies with utmost seriousness: "I view with great seriousness the published testimonies about the behavior toward wounded IDF soldiers at the hospital. Heroic IDF soldiers who were wounded defending the State of Israel deserve the highest level of medical care and respectful treatment for themselves and their families." He also stressed: "I have ordered an immediate and thorough examination of all allegations against the hospital and involved parties. If it turns out that any staff member allowed themselves inappropriate or seriously violating behavior, it will not go without consequences." According to the minister, the state will not allow situations where wounded defenders of the country face improper treatment. "We will not allow anyone to treat IDF soldiers who suffered while defending the country this way. We will demand answers, draw conclusions, and ensure that such cases do not recur," he added.
