Loaded weapons and ready magazines: Operation "Iron Net" in the Negev

As part of Operation "Iron Net" in the south, police officers from the Southern District, Border Police, and the canine unit raided targets in the Negev and seized numerous illegal weapons, including loaded M-16 rifles, Glock pistols, full magazines, and ammunition. The operation focused on the Bedouin towns of Rahat and Ar'ara, during which four suspects were arrested.

As part of Operation "Iron Net" in southern Israel, officers from the Southern District, Border Police fighters, and the canine unit conducted several targeted operational activities to locate illegal weapons in the Negev. In one raid, in the Bedouin local council of Ar'ara near Arad, a loaded M-16 rifle with ammunition and two full magazines were seized from a residence. In another operation in Rahat, carried out last week, forces found concealed weapons in a compound near a construction site, including a Glock pistol, two full magazines, an M16 rifle, and a box of ammunition. A 35-year-old suspect, a resident of the city, was arrested. The following day, with the assistance of a female canine, a Glock pistol and an explosive brick were found under a wooden raft in a yard. Inside the house, in a locked closet in the bedroom, 25 boxes of 5.56mm ammunition, 7 M16 magazines, and a weapon part were found. Three additional suspects, aged 17, 19, and 56, residents of Rahat, were arrested. All findings were transferred for further handling and investigation at the Ar'ara station. The operation, conducted with intelligence guidance, focuses on thwarting shooting incidents and preventing escalation as part of the fight against violent conflicts between families in the Bedouin sector.
