Life Sentence for Solomon Madmon Who Murdered His Son-in-Law After His Daughter Broke Up with His Son

The Tel Aviv District Court today (Wednesday) sentenced Solomon Madmon to life imprisonment for the murder of his son-in-law, Joseph Yosephia, in June 2022. The murder occurred against the backdrop of the breakup of the victim's daughter, Mina Yosephia, with Madmon's son, Roi Madmon. The couple had two children together. Madmon struggled to accept the separation and blamed Yosephia for the family rift, after allowing his daughter and grandchildren to live in his home. On the morning of the murder, Saturday, June 18, 2022, Madmon drove to Hadera, received a gun from a friend, and drove to Yosephia's home in Ramat Gan. After waiting outside the building, he entered the elevator with him and immediately upon exiting shot him six times at close range. Yosephia died at the scene. The court determined that Madmon planned the murder, sent prior threatening messages, and that it was not a spontaneous outburst. Judge Oded Maor noted in the sentencing that the trial cannot unravel the depths of the soul or restore what was lost, but its role is to determine responsibility and impose a fitting punishment. In addition to life imprisonment, Madmon was given suspended sentences and ordered to pay 150,000 shekels in compensation to the victim's four children.
