Life Sentence for Murderer of His Daughter-in-Law's Father: 'One Grandfather Took the Life of the Other, an Intergenerational Tragedy'

The Tel Aviv District Court today sentenced Solomon Madmon to life imprisonment for the aggravated murder of Joseph Yosephia, the father of his son-in-law, in June 2022. The background to the murder was a crisis in the relationship between Madmon's son and Yosephia's daughter, following which the woman left the home and moved with her children to her parents' house in Ramat Gan. Madmon, who struggled to accept the separation, sent threatening messages to Yosephia, then armed himself with a gun, drove to Yosephia's home, and shot him six times at close range on his floor. The judges described the event as 'a family tragedy where one grandfather took the life of the other grandfather' and determined that Madmon acted after prior planning. In addition to life imprisonment, Madmon was ordered to pay compensation of 150,000 shekels. The victim's wife said: 'We did not know what monster stood on the other side when we married off the children.'
