The leader of the 'Yisrael Beiteinu' party, Avigdor Liberman, attacked the head of the occupation government, Benjamin Netanyahu, accusing him of returning to the 'policy of containment' in dealing with the Gaza Strip, and warning of a repeat of the conditions that preceded the October 7 attack. The Israeli Channel 12 quoted Liberman as saying that information had recently been revealed about the monitoring of training for about 50 members of Hamas's 'elite force' in Gaza, which included training on storming and taking control of a settlement. Liberman said, in remarks at the Kerem Shalom crossing, that Netanyahu had 'abandoned independence in making security decisions', considering that Israel had returned to 'the same mentality and the same policy of containment' that, according to his claim, led to the events of October 7. Liberman also attacked Netanyahu over the entry of aid into the Gaza Strip, accusing him of responding to American dictates on this file, and considering that the current policy does not provide guarantees to prevent a repeat of a similar attack.
