"Let Him Die, No Big Deal": The Shabak Ride That Ended in a Ramming Spree

A Palestinian shuttle driver, a resident of Dura in the Hebron area, was indicted at the Be'er Sheva District Court on four serious counts, including intentional murder and attempted murder, after a ride transporting illegal residents ended in a ramming spree. According to the indictment, during the ride, passengers asked to stop because one of them felt unwell, but the driver, named Shomara, refused and cursed them, saying, "Let him die, no big deal." Upon reaching a grove, he stopped, a confrontation and brawl erupted, during which he was injured in the head. He fled, but before that, he rammed one of the passengers, named Shara, to death and wounded two others. After a day of fleeing, he turned himself in to the police. In the investigation, he initially denied the harm, but after evidence was presented, he remained silent. The indictment includes seven counts, including illegal presence in Israel and transporting illegal residents under aggravated circumstances, as well as driving without a license. The prosecution requested to keep him in custody due to concerns of obstructing proceedings.
