Legendary producer Miki Peled, founder of the "Festigal" shows, has passed away

Miki Peled, a veteran of the Israeli entertainment industry and the man who initiated the "Festigal" show, has passed away at the age of 87. His family announced this morning (Monday, August 24, 2026). His funeral will take place tomorrow, Tuesday, at 16:00 at the Kiryat Shaul cemetery. Peled was born in 1939 in Romania and immigrated to Israel with his family in 1948. Over decades of activity, he produced dozens of entertainment shows and large-scale cultural events. In 1981, he initiated and produced the first "Festigal," a show that under his management became a major annual tradition in Israeli children's and youth culture. Over the years, Peled worked with top Israeli artists and was instrumental in shaping the local production industry. For his long-standing contribution to the entertainment field, he received a lifetime achievement award from ACUM. His son and partner, Yaron Peled, eulogized him: "Miki was much more than a producer. He was a man who knew how to dream, recognize talent, give opportunities, and above all, make people believe they could." Peled is survived by his wife Tami, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
