He called for advancing the framework agreement through diplomacy, noting that Lebanon faces a choice between war and diplomacy. Lebanese President Joseph Aoun sharply criticized Israel, saying it is "not waging war wisely" and that it "thinks tactically and neglects the strategic level." In remarks delivered today (Monday), Aoun said Lebanon is working toward full implementation of the framework agreement with Israel despite difficulties, and does not intend to withdraw from it. He called for strengthening the agreement and achieving a breakthrough on the issues of prisoners, borders, pilot zones for withdrawal, and the ceasefire. Aoun stressed that Lebanon faces a choice between war and diplomacy, and that there is no other option. He charged that "Israel's extensive military response has not helped us or the United States," and asserted that "Israel will not be able to achieve its goals through the use of force." Meanwhile, a report in Lebanon quoted a source described as well-informed as telling Al-Jadeed channel that all signs point to Israeli preparation for full control over the Ali Taher ridge in southern Lebanon, which explains the intensity of strikes in the area, including artillery shelling, bombings, and the dropping of explosives by drones. The ridge separates the Litani River from the Nabatieh district, and at its summit stands the Beaufort Castle, which was captured by the IDF.
