Lawyer from Tira arrested on suspicion of forging documents for drivers disqualified from driving

A lawyer in his 60s, a resident of Tira, was arrested on suspicion of forging documents for drivers whose licenses had been revoked, in order to allow them to continue driving during the disqualification period. The investigation was conducted by the Fraud Unit of the Central District in cooperation with the Traffic Division. The suspect will be brought in for a remand extension.

The Central District Police arrested this morning (Monday) a lawyer in his 60s, a resident of Tira, on suspicion of forging documents for drivers whose licenses had been revoked. According to the suspicion, the documents were intended to create a false representation before the courts, the police, and the Licensing Authority, as if the drivers had deposited their licenses and served the disqualification periods imposed on them. In practice, according to the suspicion, those drivers continued to drive during the disqualification period. The investigation was conducted in recent weeks covertly by the Fraud and Cyber Crime Unit of the Central District, in cooperation with investigators from the Traffic Division of the district. This morning the investigation moved to the overt stage, and the suspect was arrested at his home. Later today he will be brought to court for a request to extend his remand.
