The landlord refused to open the door to inspectors who arrived with a judicial search warrant, and actively resisted, prompting firefighters to break down the door. The landlord and another neighbor who interfered with the operation were arrested by the Israel Police. Upon entry, the home was found locked, sealed, and filled with stench, with the floor and furniture covered in urine and feces, and fleas and many insects present. During the search, inspectors encountered two children with special needs: a minor about 7 years old who was only wearing a diaper, and another in his 20s. According to suspicion, the two had not left the home for a long period. Welfare authorities were called, and the children were rescued and transferred to their care. Eight cats were found in the apartment, some of them kittens, held in harsh conditions, and one kitten was found dying. The cats were transferred to a protected facility of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security for veterinary examination, treatment, and rehabilitation. Meanwhile, the possibility of legal proceedings and a criminal investigation against the landlord is being examined.
