Kremlin says Ukrainian attack on Iranian vessel should be seen as an assault on Iran itself
The Kremlin stated that a Ukrainian attack on an Iranian vessel in the Caspian Sea should be considered an assault on Iran itself, emphasizing the need to eliminate the threat from Kyiv. Iran condemned the attack, which killed one sailor and injured another. Ukraine claimed it struck vessels used in military cargo shipments involving Iran.
The Kremlin on Tuesday stated that a Ukrainian attack on an Iranian vessel in the Caspian Sea should be considered an assault on Iran itself, underscoring the importance of neutralizing what it described as the threat from Kyiv. Iran's Foreign Ministry condemned the attack on Saturday, reporting an explosion that killed one sailor and injured another. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Kyiv had struck vessels used in military cargo shipments involving Iran. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov accused Ukraine of widening the geographical scope of what he called "terrorist attacks," also alleging Kyiv's involvement in blowing up Germany's Nord Stream pipelines and targeting CPC Pipeline Infrastructure, harming Kazakhstan's interests. Peskov stated, "This threat must be neutralized and definitively destroyed."
