A session of Kosovo's parliament in Pristina was disrupted after an opposition MP from the Alliance party, Time Kadrijaj, approached Prime Minister Albin Kurti and threw eggs at him several times from her bag, shouting 'Shame, shame!'. The incident occurred against the backdrop of Kurti's proposal to postpone the constitutive session so that his party, Self-Determination, could have additional time for consultations and inter-party negotiations before nominating a candidate for speaker. The opposition accused the prime minister of deliberately delaying the process and failing to form working bodies of government. Video of the protest quickly spread in world media. Kosovo has been in a political deadlock for about two years. In the early elections in June, Kurti's party won 47.13% of the vote and 53 of 120 seats, but this is not enough to form a stable majority, forcing the prime minister to seek compromises with other factions.
