Knesset Speaker Amir Ohana launched his Likud primary campaign this evening (Monday), centered on an attack on the High Court of Justice. The video, which ends with the caption 'Amir Ohana to the front', showcases his struggle against the Supreme Court and echoes headlines about his threats not to respect High Court rulings and his boycott of Supreme Court President Yitzhak Amit and Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara. 'We fought the judicial system more than any of our predecessors,' he said. The campaign collects 'highlights' from his recent term, including threats to defy rulings, boycotting the Supreme Court president and the attorney general, and opposing new elections for the state comptroller after the court disqualified the appointment of attorney Michael Rabilo. Ohana echoed MK Gilad Kariv's words: 'The Supreme Court orders — and Amir Ohana disregards.' In the video, Ohana is heard saying: 'This is the Knesset that fought the hegemony... more than any of its predecessors,' and 'He who respects will be respected. Respecting authorities is not one-sided. The Knesset has said its piece; if the Supreme Court has different opinions, that's its problem.' He also said: 'The trampling of the Knesset by the judicial system is a severe blow to Israeli democracy.'
