Knesset Nearly Idle, Six New MKs to Receive at Least 676,000 Shekels

The Knesset will pay at least 676,000 shekels to six new MKs entering during the election recess, when the plenum and committees rarely convene. MK Yoav Segalovich (Yesh Atid) resigned ahead of his move to Ra'am, and Michal Salbni will replace him. Five more MKs are expected to resign by September 8, and new MKs will receive salary and benefits during the recess. The new MKs will not be eligible for acclimatization payments.

The Knesset will pay at least 676,000 shekels to six new MKs entering during the election recess, when the plenum and committees rarely convene. MK Yoav Segalovich (Yesh Atid) submitted his resignation to the Knesset Speaker ahead of his expected move to the Ra'am party, and Michal Salbni will replace him the day after tomorrow, serving until the 26th Knesset is constituted on November 10. She is expected to receive about 157,000 shekels gross for about three months of tenure, including meal and clothing allowances, pension contributions, three advisors, and a leased car. Five more sitting MKs – Dan Ilouz, Yuli Edelstein, Orit Farkash-Hacohen, Chili Tropper, and Sharen Haskel – are expected to resign by September 8, and five new MKs will replace them, each receiving about 104,000 shekels for about two months. All six new MKs will not be eligible for acclimatization payments (52,000 shekels per year of tenure) since at least one year of tenure is required. The Knesset estimates that MK Elazar Stern and MK Yaron Levy (Yesh Atid) may resign, which would add another 208,000 shekels to the cost.
