Council head Tamir Idan responded sharply today (Sunday) to the incident, defining the very penetration as a 'crossing of a red line,' even though the kite did not carry a payload. He called not to take the incident lightly and warned that similar means could be used in the future to carry explosives, including via drones. Idan rejected a policy of containment and demanded a firm and clear response, while setting a price that would make clear to the other side that Israel will not allow a return to a reality of threats from the Strip. He also linked discussions on the future of the Strip to ensuring the security of the envelope's residents, stating that conditions for arrangements include the dismantling of Hamas and the demilitarization of the Strip. 'The residents of the envelope do not need more promises. They need security certainty,' he concluded.
