As part of a targeted operation against illegal weapons possession, police forces from the Coastal District, together with the Menashe YASAM unit and the Prison Service's Dror unit, conducted a search in a kindergarten in Jisr az-Zarqa. During the search, a bag containing weapons, including a gun, was found hidden in the building's attic. The suspect, a resident of the town and the building's owner, was arrested and taken for questioning, after which he was jailed. The investigation revealed that he rents the building to the local council, which operates a kindergarten there during the school year. According to suspicion, after the summer break began, the building's owner took advantage of the place and hid the gun in the attic. The court granted the police's request and extended the suspect's detention until August 12. The police emphasized that they view the use of educational institutions and spaces intended for children to hide weapons with severity, and that the activity to locate illegal weapons will continue. A senior police official told Maariv: "Criminal elements exploited a place that should be the safest for children and hid weapons there. As far as we are concerned, this is a red line; we will continue to act against criminals and reach them anywhere and anytime."
