Khamenei's son's condition - "important mainly on the declarative and symbolic level"

Dr. Tamar Eilam Gindin said on 103FM that the question of Mojtaba Khamenei's condition is important mainly on the declarative and symbolic level, since even if he is alive, he does not make decisions. She added that the Iranians believe Israel and the US are deterred, and are trying to drag out negotiations until President Trump leaves the White House.

In a conversation with Prof. Aryeh Eldad and Ron Kopman on 103FM, Dr. Tamar Eilam Gindin addressed the condition of Mojtaba Khamenei, son of Iran's Supreme Leader. According to her, the question of his condition is important mainly on the declarative and symbolic level, since even if he is alive, he does not make decisions himself, and the Revolutionary Guards have not allowed him to appear in order to protect his safety. Eilam Gindin claims that the Iranians believe Israel and the United States are deterred by them, especially after security incidents in which Israel did not respond with the force they expected, which gives them a sense of capability and power. She adds that Iran is in no hurry to go anywhere, and part of the goal in negotiations is to drag out time, as negotiations are a form of struggle. She estimates that the Iranians are waiting for the results of the midterm elections, but understand that President Trump will remain in office for the next two years, and therefore they are trying to drag out time until he leaves the White House.
