Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz spoke from Mount Hermon, where IDF forces are currently deployed, and sent a clear signal to Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa. Katz stated that the Israeli army will not leave Mount Hermon and the security zone as long as jihadist threats to the State of Israel exist. He emphasized that the message to the Syrian leadership is clear: seeing the IDF on Mount Hermon, they must understand that Israel is there to protect its communities and border. The minister also noted that Israel will continue daily operations in Syria to prevent threats, eliminate remnants of the former regime, and prevent the strengthening of the new authority if it becomes dangerous. Additionally, Katz declared the intention to counter attempts by Turkey to strengthen its positions in Syria if they create a threat to Israeli interests. According to him, over several days, Israeli forces destroyed the strategic military infrastructure of Assad's army and are now focused on eliminating remaining threats.
